The network of footpaths in the Royan area is carefully signposted so that you can also go for independent rides on horseback: the orange markings, specifically for horse riding, indicate the routes to be followed by waymarkers (horizontal lines), directional indications (left\/right) and prohibitions (cross markings). A green sign representing a foot in a stirrup marks the start of the signposted routes.
