The equestrian centres in the Royan area offer themed rides, introductory courses and baptisms for all ages, as well as short and long rides. The network of footpaths in the Royan area is carefully signposted so that you can also go for independent rides on horseback: the orange markings, specifically for horse riding, indicate the routes to be followed by waymarkers (horizontal lines), directional indications (left/right) and prohibitions (cross markings). A green sign representing a foot in a stirrup marks the start of the signposted routes. Horse-drawn carriages are not permitted on bridleways or beaches.
