The coastline and the Douaniers trail
From Plage du Bureau to Plage de la Grande Côte, the sentier des Douaniers invites you to explore the Saint-Palais-sur-Mer coastline on foot, discovering the carrelets on stilts, the Belle Époque mansions and geological curiosities such as the Pont du Diable and the puits de l'Auture. The Maison des Douanes (Customs House) offers you the chance to extend your discovery of the site through fascinating exhibitions. The coastal path then continues, allowing hikers to continue their walk to Royan or in the Coubre forest.

There's no shortage of cultural visits and heritage sites to discover in Saint-Palais. To discover the surrounding area in a unique way, head for the top of the old bell tower after admiring its contemporary art collections! In the peace and quiet of the forest, surrounded by marshes, the village of Saint-Augustin will delight lovers of nature and tranquillity with its charm and authenticity.
A lively destination
In summer, the atmosphere in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer is festive, from the terraces of the bars and restaurants to the discotheque for those who stay late. Street festivals, fireworks displays and concerts abound throughout the season to entertain holidaymakers from all horizons. In July and August, there's a theme every week: magic, the circus, street entertainment, etc. In July, the Saint-Palais Parade festival is a chance to admire the sights and sounds and watch a variety of street art shows.
The covered market in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer is also a must for sampling fresh, local seafood and local produce. The streets of the town also come alive with the colourful stalls of the market traditional markets in the morning, and night markets on the seafront in the evening.
There are plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area, including Vaux sur Mer, Royan Atlantique, Saint-Sulpice and Mathes La Palmyre in the Poitou-Charentes region. The Gironde estuary is also within easy reach.
